I remember… I used to get on the bed, and turn on the desktop of my father’s study room… This was when I was very small… Small enough to not remember what my age was at this time.
I would turn on the desktop and put on the CD inside. Yes, this was probably in 2016 or 2017… So, this Hanuman movie used to be on a CD. And no matter how many times I used to watch it… It was never enough. And later on, my Ma hid that CD away from me because I was spending too much time on the screen as a third-grade kid.
Fast forward almost… over 6 years…
We are now in Kalyani, Dad bought a new home and yeah, got a lot of changes… I became conscious. And a lot happened…
Anyways, this year, we moved into a new apartment and things are new…
New internet connection (which is also connected to the TV), washing machine, fans, etc., and me and my sister (she is a decade younger than me).
We are watching the Legends of Hanuman from Disney Hotstar (got a free subscription!!! yay!!! 🥳) and we are pretty much addicted to it.
The animation is great. Easy to understand. She (my sis) loves it seeing it in Hindi.
So we switched the language… from English to Hindi.
And we were watching that part today, where Hanuman understands who he really is. Not a mere vanaar…
But rather a deva, a son of a God.
Bajrangbali, Vayu Putra, etc. And the fact isn’t about understanding who he really was, but rather this face-off with the truth.
Hanuman was careless and there was a line in the movie that meant that if Hanuman hadn’t used his powers for the right reasons, he might have as well joined hands with Ravan, the demon king. And that might have been the destruction of the entire world.
And that’s where my thinking went perspicuous.
What if Hanuman had taken the wrong path…
What if Hanuman faltered while taking upon his destiny…
What if he faltered and Rama had really died?
(Would love to know your answers in the comments ;)
Write answers in separate comments… I would love that)
Vayu, The Wind God, said a line, ‘The Universe seeks for a balance”…
And perhaps, even if Hanuman had faltered,…
A new ‘Hanuman’ would have taken his place and served the mission.
And even if Ram went out, Ravan would have gotten killed… anyhow… in the ‘end’.
Because mortality has its own stuff going around.
No matter how much a mere mortal struggles with life, no matter how much a mere human feels pain, with mortality,…
The greatest destiny lies with death.
Death might be a destination (Steve Job’s quote…). A greater goal. A greater salvation.
Life is meant to be experienced. And just like those who have never understood or known hunger, would throw normal food off to the dustbin.
If you never realized that life is going to end, there would never been an urge to work harder every single day and make something out of the limited life, that you were given as a boon.
Immortality could have been a curse in disguise.
I remember it clearly just as I was texting my girlfriend about the Moon, Calipso, and Percy Jackson… I think that the moon is trapped. Like the seas that sometimes bring tsunamis and yet, become as calm as a Buddhist monk in a storm.
Perhaps, it’s trapped. It’s like an endless road that tires the best of travelers and wanderers and all that they want is to exit this race.
No matter how much power you are given, no matter if you are Deva, if you are a celestial being… you are bound by another master, Time. And time has its own dimensions.
An exit… is an exception…
Something which is more easily granted to mortals than the immortals.
Hanuman is immortal in himself...he is one of the seven Chiranjeevis (Immortals) in Sanatan Dharma along with Ashwatthama from Mahabharata...and on the other side there is Rama, Vishnu in the form of common man...who has to walk amongst men as a mortal...there is also Lord Ravana, who at that time was the wisest among all mortals...he composed many art forms, music as well as Rakhsas Veda (search it up..it's also called the 6th Veda, the 5th one is ayurveda)...
These contrasts are what gives our culture meaning...there is no devil...god and devil both resides among us
